A ZIP file is an archive file that supports lossless data compression.
This can be useful when you need to transfer multiple files or transfer a big file to save up on space.
We will be using a free program called 7-ZIP, if you don’t have it installed yet you can check our tutorial here on how to install it.
This tutorial will show you how to extract a ZIP file with 7-Zip in Windows 10.

Open your file explorer and go to the directory where your ZIP file is located.
Right-click on the ZIP file, hover over ‘7-Zip’ and select ‘Extract files…’.
A new window will pop-up asking for extraction settings.
You can change the extraction path if you want to.
When ready click on the ‘OK’ button.
Your ZIP file has now been extracted, you can remove the ZIP file if you want.
You have now extracted a ZIP file with 7-ZIP in Windows 10.
