A ZIP file is an archive file that supports lossless data compression.
This can be useful when you need to transfer multiple files or transfer a big file to save up on space.
We will be using a free program called 7-ZIP, if you don’t have it installed yet you can check our tutorial here on how to install it.
This tutorial will show you how to create a ZIP file with 7-Zip in Windows 10.
A video tutorial is available at the bottom of the post.
Open your file explorer and go to the directory of the files you want to zip.
Select all the files you want to zip, right-click, hover over ‘7-Zip’ and click on ‘Add to archive…’.
A new window will pop-up giving you the ability to customize the zip file.
Next to ‘Archive format:’ click on the dropdown menu and select ‘zip’.
