If you have a lot of software installed it can be annoying to check every program for updates seperately.
In ubuntu it is very easy and simple to check your system for software updates like in the Windows OS.
Every system should be updated to the latest version to avoid critical bugs and exploits that make your system unsafe.
Updating your system also sometimes allows new features to be added that can come in handy later.
This tutorial will show you how to check for updates in Ubuntu Linux.
A video tutorial is available at the bottom of the post.
First open the settings menu.
You can do this in several ways, one is to just search for ‘Settings’ in your menu.
At the bottom left of the window you will see the ‘Details’ tab.
Then click on it.
Then click on the ‘Check for updates’ button right under your system specifications.
After that you can now see if you have any software updates available to install.
Ideally you want to see the window like below, that says that your system is up to date.
